Times Of India, 28th June 2015.

GURGAON: Excitement soared high on Saturday as famous TV and theatre personality Saurabh Shukla drew kids into the fascinating world of film and theatre in the ongoing TOI Gurgaon For Kids workshop.

The much-awaited workshop went for an hour at Epicentre and was attended by 25 children. It started with Shukla sharing his experience as an actor in Bollywood and his journey in the industry. He also spoke about his family background and how his parents encouraged him to pursue acting as a career.

A Q&A session followed during which children asked Shukla various things about the profession. Interactive sessions on script writing was also held.

Pritish Ghoshal (10), who aspires to be a theatre artist, said, “The workshop encouraged me to think creatively and gave me an understanding of the challenges involved in becoming a successful theatre artist.”

Ten-year-old Naman Chatterjee said he was thrilled to meet the actor and also make several friends.

Winner of a national award in 2014, Shukla encouraged the kids to take up theatre as a career. He said, “I watched Sholay 82 times for the simple reason that I am still fascinated to explore the world of acting. I would suggest you to get involved in artistic pursuits and make it your profession.”

“Just follow your passion. I am still in love with my profession,” he added.

Parents also found the workshop quite informative. “I always suggest my children to take up one or two hobbies. Now-a-days children are getting into alcoholism and drugs because there is no positive distraction. Theatre, music and sports provide them opportunities to use their energy in the right direction. Today’s workshop encouraged my child to take up theatre as a hobby,” said Radhika Singh, a parent.

The actor was mobbed by the participants for selfies in the end.
