ART MART IV celebrated 100th anniversary of Indian Cinema

This year, Art Mart IV celebrated the 100th anniversary of Indian cinema, - in its creative, entertainment and inspirational dimensions, as the central theme for some specially designed projects that were also added to the program. A selection of art works, inspired by Bollywood, Hollywood, and various other genres of popular and experimental cinema, were showcased in a specially curated exhibition ‘Art n Cinema’ featuring work of more than 20 artists as part of Art Mart IV.

‘His Master’s Choice’ was a new dimension introduced this time to feature some exciting new art works created by an invited group of younger emerging stars from around India and selected and nominated by two of our celebrated and well known younger master artists Bose Krishnamachari and Chintan Upadhyay. The work by the nominated artists’ was displayed in special stalls alongside fresh creative expressions by many other promising artists’ within the Art Mart exhibition.

Also a series of popular associated events were there to entertain the guests at the venue. Ranging from Live Painting, An Open Canvas choreographed by Sarandeep Grover, to a painting competition for children, the program also included an Introductory Art Appreciation Course for aspiring collectors that was conducted by leading experts, a workshop for artists, and a special screening of feature film Rang Rasiya directed by Ketan Mehta and based on the life of legendry artist Raja Ravi Varma, amongst other events. Special previews, gallery walks, cultural performances and much more was lined up for the public and the media to enable the visitors to interact with artists and experts on a single platform. Besides collectors, connoisseurs, artists, dealers, experts, gallerists, art enthusiasts as well as print and electronic media, hospitality businesses and corporate houses from the business hub in Gurgaon, Delhi and elsewhere were all invited to partake of the important artistic highlights of the event.

The event was inaugurated by the art curator Ms. Sushma Bahl on the evening of the first day followed by a live art initiated by artist Sarandeep Grover where everybody present was welcome to paint the open canvas. The evening was also graced by a melodious performance by the youngest pianist Abhay Goyle. The second day saw the screening of the acclaimed movie Rang Rasiya followed by and exquisite performance by Ashley Lobo’s dance troupe. The final day marked the completion of the exhibition and the final evening was enlightened by a medley of Bollywood songs performed by Ms. Radhika Chopra.

The three-day art extravaganza was a meeting ground for all- artists, gallerists, collectors, art connoisseurs, the general public and the media. Providing the independent artists an opportunity to exhibit, the multi dimensional Art Mart played a platform for a wide gamut of associated activities – discussions, workshops, press meets, art appreciation course, painting competition for children, and much more. A dynamic space, it brought to the table an opportunity for people to sell and buy art and a lot more to enjoy and appreciate it all.

Ltd. with advice from a team of art experts and featuring works by numerous artists and galleries, the Art Mart is not only recognized as an open platform for showcasing and dealing in affordable art by emerging artists, but also featuring high quality original paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photographs and new media art, it represents the full spectrum of contemporary Indian creativity from all over the country and across forms, styles and themes and reasonably priced. The aim is to make art affordable and accessible to the public and collectors with variable pockets and tastes.
