Anjanna is an internationally recognized painter and former Miss India of 1975 who represented the country at the Miss World contest in London where she stood eighth.

Today she has more than 50 art exhibitions to her credit – held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and London. Anjanna’s forte is painting women who are a blend of the east and west, the urban and the rural.

Noteworthy exhibitions:

  • One of her most important exhibitions in recent times has been on India’s biggest star, Shahrukh Khan, titled ‘SRK – A poem of art in cinema’. The series of 20 paintings depicts SRK in various avatars. A host of Bollywood personalities attended the event. They painted and signed on a special painting called the “SRK Flowering Tree”, a tribute to the varied roles which SRK has played.
  • These paintings went for exhibitions and auctions to various countries in the year 2006-2007, starting with Singapore in February 2006 then Dubai and London.
  • Anjanna has also worked on a joint painting with Dr. Farooq Abdullah which was auctioned at the Bonham Art Auction and Asia House organized by Tehelka on 7th and 11th June 2007. The high point of the event was a live painting jointly painted by Shahrukh Khan and M F Hussain at the venue.
  • One of Anjanna’s exhibitions was linked to the film Singh Is Kinng where she made paintings inspired from the film and paid a tribute to the Sikh community. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif painted ‘live’ with Anjanna and signed the paintings at a high profile event at ITC Grand Central Sheraton, Mumbai in August 2008.
  • In another event which was sponsored by UTV and Gitanjali, Anjanna made a painting inspired by Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut from the film ‘Fashion’. Her painting was unveiled by both Madhur Bhandarkar and Priyanka Chopra.

Personal trivia:

  • Anjanna has done a cameo role where she plays herself, in the highly acclaimed film Page 3, by Madhur Bhandarkar.
  • Anjanna was also on the Miss India 2009 panel where she groomed the contestants in aesthetics and arts.
  • The June 2009 issue of Hello magazine has an article on the artist which gives a complete synopsis of her life. All prominent magazines and dailies of India, regularly feature her life and times.
  • The January 2012 issue of Society also has an article on Anjanna and her work.

Her works are in the collections of high profile personalities like:

Shahrukh Khan, Yash Chopra, Hema Malini, Sanjay Dutt, CM Sheila Dixit, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Vijay Mallya, Praful Patel and Jagdish Tytler, Shobhaa De, Khushwant Singh, Singhanias, Modis, Dalmias, Ansals, Garwares, prominent five star hotels and in the collection of a legion of NRI buyers across the world.
